IPL 2027 auction to be held in Goa in December: BCCI secretary

The IPL 2027 auction will be held in Goa in December, marking the return of the event to India after three consecutive editions were hosted overseas, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia said on Wednesday.

The auction was held in Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Abu Dhabi over the previous three years. The BCCI will bring the event back to India for the 2027 edition, with Goa chosen as the venue.

"This year, after hosting the IPL auction in three foreign locations, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi last year, we are going to host it in Goa in the month of December," Saikia told ANI.


Separately, the BCCI has shifted the India A Women-Australia A Women multi-day match scheduled from September 29 to October 2 from Dharamshala to Mohali due to prolonged rainfall and unfavourable ground conditions.

The match will now be played at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, which is also hosting the ongoing three-match One-Day series between the two teams, the BCCI said in a media release.

The venue change follows persistent rainfall in Dharamshala that has affected the outfield and raised concerns over playing conditions. India A Women won the opening One-Day match of the series by four wickets while chasing a target of 236 runs.

Explaining the decision, Saikia said the move was aimed at ensuring cricketing activities continued without disruption from the weather.

"We have recently shifted the upcoming T20 matches from Dharamshala to Mohali because the ongoing weather conditions in Dharamshala are not very conducive for cricket. A lot of rainfall has been taking place there. Because of this incessant rainfall in Dharamshala, we decided that the matches should be moved to Mohali to ensure cricket activities continue without any interference from the weather," he said.
