Jasprit Bumrah’s absence has exposed India’s T20I bowling vulnerabilities, with the team conceding more runs and taking fewer wickets against Full Member nations in 2026 without the pace spearhead.

India’s T20I bowling statistics against Full Member nations in 2026 highlight a stark reality: Jasprit Bumrah’s presence drastically transforms the attack, while his absence exposes severe vulnerabilities.

With Bumrah in the lineup, India have captured 111 wickets across 15 matches at an average of 22.18 and an economy rate of 8.77. Conversely, in the 13 matches played without him, performance drops sharply—India have managed only 73 wickets at an average of 29.32 while conceding 9.37 runs per over.

These figures illustrate India's heavy reliance on Bumrah for early breakthroughs and run containment, especially against aggressive batting lineups. Without him, the team has taken almost half as many wickets across a similar number of fixtures, alongside a notable decline in bowling average.

This statistical divide is particularly crucial as India prepare for another potentially high-scoring battle against the West Indies in Indore. The opening two T20Is highlighted the struggles of both bowling units on flatter tracks; India secured victory in Lucknow, but the visitors struck back in Ranchi to tie the series.

Shreyas Iyer’s unbeaten 102 guided India to an eight-wicket win in Lucknow, but Shai Hope answered back with an unbeaten ton of his own in Ranchi, steering the West Indies past a massive target of 250. The visiting side demonstrated impressive resilience, pulling off the record chase despite dropping three wickets during the PowerPlay.

India’s bowling attack faces another stern test in Indore, where short boundaries and a batter-friendly pitch offer minimal margin for error. Given how both sides have leaked runs so far, another high-scoring encounter will test India’s bowling depth to the limit.

Compounding these bowling struggles are persistent fielding issues. India have put down the most catches among Full Member teams in T20Is since the start of 2025, while also conceding an elevated number of misfields and missed run-outs. On grounds where boundaries flow easily, these unforced errors become even more damaging.

Ultimately, the statistical divide makes one point clear: Bumrah brings a tier of control and penetration that India simply cannot replicate without him. As they aim to take charge of the series, the stark difference in performance with and without their lead paceman underlines his paramount importance to the setup.
