India name squad for three-match Afghanistan T20I series; Shreyas Iyer to lead

The Men’s Selection Committee has announced India’s squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, with Shreyas Iyer named captain and Tilak Varma appointed vice-captain.

The squad includes Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan, with both Samson and Kishan named as wicketkeeper-batters.

All-rounders in the squad include Shivam Dube, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar. The bowling attack features Varun Chakaravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana.


The selectors have noted that Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah and Harshit Rana are subject to fitness clearance.

The three-match series will be played in Delhi, with all three matches scheduled at the same venue.

The first T20I will be played on September 13, followed by the second match on September 15 and the third on September 17.
