India announces Test squad for Sri Lanka series, Shubman Gill named captain

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday announced a 15-member squad for the Test series against Sri Lanka, with Shubman Gill set to lead the side and KL Rahul named vice-captain.

The squad includes Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, Sai Sudharsan, Dhruv Jurel, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Manav Suthar, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Devdutt Padikkal and Saransh Jain.

Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and batter Sai Sudharsan have been included in the squad, subject to fitness clearance from the BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE).


Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel have been named as the wicketkeeping options for the series.

India's squad for the Sri Lanka Tests comprises: Shubman Gill (captain), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant (wk), Sai Sudharsan, Dhruv Jurel (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Manav Suthar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Devdutt Padikkal and Saransh Jain.

Bumrah and Sudharsan have been included subject to fitness clearance from the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE).
