India announce Test, ODI squads for New Zealand tour; Gill, Iyer to lead

The Indian men's selection committee has announced the Test and ODI squads for the upcoming tour of New Zealand, with Shubman Gill set to lead the team in the first three ODIs and the two-match Test series. Shreyas Iyer will captain India in the fourth and fifth ODIs, while KL Rahul has been named vice-captain for the Test series.

India will play five ODIs and two Tests in New Zealand after completing the five-match T20I series.

The ODI squads have been split for the first three matches and the final two games. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli feature in both squads, while Iyer will serve as Gill's deputy in the opening three ODIs. Ishan Kishan has been named vice-captain and wicketkeeper for the final two matches.

The five-match ODI series will begin on November 4, with the first match scheduled in Auckland. The second and third ODIs will be played in Wellington and Hamilton on November 7 and 10, respectively. The final two matches will take place in Mount Maunganui on November 13 and 15.

The Test series will begin in Wellington on November 19, followed by the second Test in Christchurch from November 27 to December 1.

Shreyas Iyer (captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Tilak Varma, Ishan Kishan (vice-captain and wicketkeeper), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, Naman Dhir, Auqib Nabi, Gurnoor Brar, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Arshdeep Singh, Kumar Kushagra (wicketkeeper), Mohammed Siraj, Yash Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav.

*Prasidh Krishna's selection for the first three ODIs is subject to fitness clearance.
