Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka, Asian Games 2026 Bronze Medal Match: Live streaming, Playing 11, weather, pitch report and more

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will meet in the Asian Games 2026 bronze medal match, with both teams looking to end their campaigns on a positive note after disappointing semi-final defeats.

Bangladesh are playing the bronze medal match for the second consecutive Games after beating Pakistan to finish third in Hangzhou in 2023. Sri Lanka, meanwhile, have already improved on their quarter-final exit from the previous edition.

What could have been for Bangladesh

Bangladesh will reflect on a missed opportunity after reaching the semi-finals. Their quarter-final against Malaysia was washed out, setting up a semi-final clash with Pakistan where a place in the gold medal match was within reach.

In a game reduced to 13 overs per side, Bangladesh recovered from 21/3 to post 111/7, with Towhid Hridoy leading the fightback with 42 off 25 balls.

Pakistan were then reduced to 53/4, but Bangladesh failed to close out the game. Abdul Samad struck 23 runs off Mustafizur Rahman's 10th over, while Mustafizur conceded 41 runs from his two overs as Pakistan completed the chase with nine balls to spare.

Bangladesh need a strong batting effort

Bangladesh's batting will again be crucial in the shortened format. Hridoy showed his ability to accelerate when required, while Litton Das, Tanzid Hasan, Saif Hassan and Mosaddek Hossain add experience to the batting order.

With Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain and Nasum Ahmed providing bowling options, Bangladesh also have the variety to make use of conditions that have generally offered assistance to spinners at Nisshin.

One last chance for a medal

The bronze medal gives both teams an opportunity to finish the tournament on the podium after falling short of the gold medal match.

Bangladesh will take confidence from their fight against Pakistan but will need to avoid another late lapse if they are to repeat their bronze medal-winning performance from 2023.

Sri Lanka, meanwhile, will look to show that their 45 all out against India was an isolated collapse rather than a reflection of their batting ability.

With a medal at stake at Korogi Sports Park, both teams will have one final opportunity to end their Asian Games campaign on a high.
