Playing their last league match of the 2019 Cricket World Cup, 1996 champions Sri Lanka managed to post 264/7 runs against India by opting to bat first.

Angelo Mathews scored his 3rd ODI ton after Lahiru Thirimanne got out for 53 to Kuldeep Yadav. It was a matured display of batting by the experienced Mathews as he weathered the relentless Indian onslaught and rebuilt Sri Lanka's innings after early jolts.

Mathews hit 10 fours and 2 sixes to finish with 113 in 128 balls.


Thirimanne and Mathews stitched a 124-run partnership for the fifth wicket after Jasprit Bumrah sent both Sri Lankan openers back early.

Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya provided breakthroughs quickly in their 1st spells to put a lot of pressure on Sri Lanka batters.

Earlier in the day, India made two changes to their playing XI as they brought back Kuldeep Yadav after dropping him in the last game and also Ravindra Jadeja got his first opportunity to play in the World Cup.
