Chennai Weather Update: Chances of rains to disrupt the final between KKR vs SRH; Will it be a reserve day?

The unexpected rain which cut short the Kolkata Knight Riders' final practise session at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday reminded everyone of the three-day IPL grand decider from the previous season. That contest took place at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad over three days, with the Chennai Super Kings winning the match.

The fourth strip, which will be utilized for the championship game, was covered by the grounds crews in spite of the rain. Compared to the black soil track used for the second qualifying, the red soil track utilized for the final provides superior batting conditions.

What if the IPL final match gets washed out because of rain?

1. A reserve day is planned with favorable weather forecast in case of a washout.

2. If rain cause disruptions to the IPL 2024 finals, the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) technique will be used to reschedule matches.

3. The game will be rescheduled for Monday if it is totally cancelled due to weather.

4. The IPL 2024 winner will be chosen using the points table if rain continues on the reserve day. In that case, the trophy would be lifted by the Kolkata Knight Riders, who are now top of the standings.

SRH vs KKR
After defeating the Rajasthan Royals handily in Friday's season's second qualifier by a score of 36 runs, the Sunrisers qualified for the finals. In the first qualifier on Tuesday, KKR and SRH faced off, with the former winning handily to secure a spot in the final.
