Champions Trophy 2025: Steve Smith, Alex Carey take Australia to 264 even as Mohammed Shami picks three wickets

Australia scored 264 runs in their 50 overs in the first semifinal of the Champions Trophy 2025 as Steve Smith scored 73 runs off 96 balls, while Alex Carey’s 61 from 57 balls gave the innings the impetus later in the innings at Dubai on Tuesday.

Australia got off to a decent start and scored 63 runs in the powerplay. However, they lost two wickets, including that of the dangerous -looking Travis Head, who scored 39 runs off 33 balls. His knock included five fours and two sixes.

Australia lost their way after the 20th over as Ravindra Jadeja sent back Marnus Labuschagne and Josh Inglis in the span of four overs. However, Smith and Carey put up a good 50-run partnership in quick time.


Mohammed Shami got rid of Steve Smith at the right time and Glenn Maxwell followed after smashing a six off Axar Patel.

Ben Dwarsuis scored runs to give Australia the finishing touches.

For India, Mohammed Shami led from the front with 3/48, while Ravindra Jadeja and Varun Chakravarthy picked up a couple of important wickets.
