Mithali Raj announces retirement from international cricket

Former captain of Indian women cricket team Mithali Raj announced retirement from all forms of international cricket.

“Today is the day I retire from all forms of international cricket," the Indian cricketer said.

She also said, “It was an honour to have led the team for so many years. It definitely shaped me as a person & hopefully helped shape Indian Women's Cricket as well.”


"I look forward to my 2nd innings with your blessings and support," Raj added.

The 39-year-old made the announcement on twitter.

Raj is the leading run scorer in women's one-day international cricket. With an average of 50.68 in 232 games, she scored 7,805 runs while representing India.

Mithali, currently, is at the seventh position on the MRF Tyres ICC Women's ODI player rankings.
