NEW DELHI: Calling the suspended Gujarat State Amateur Boxing Association uncooperative, Boxing India (BI) today said it would form a Dispute Commission to address the issues related to GSABA after the crucial September 11 elections.

"Despite Boxing India's initiative during this phase, the Gujarat State Amateur Boxing Association (GSABA) has been uncooperative and has railroaded Boxing India's efforts to shape the future of Indian boxing," BI said in a statement.

"In this vein, Boxing India has had to provisionally suspend the GSABA. Post elections, the newly elected body will form the Dispute Commission that will re-look into the matter and address the issue," it added.

GSABA was suspended after its General Secretary I D Nanavati was accused of sending an offensive e-mail to BI, an allegation which Nanavati has denied.

Nanavati had recently written to AIBA stating that GSABA's suspension was part of a conspiracy to keep it out of the elections. GSABA has been opposing Boxing India, which is a consortium of corporates and administrators recognised by the International Boxing Association to provisionally run the sport in the country.

"Since the International Boxing Association (AIBA) granted provisional approval to Boxing India in March 2014, the newly-ratified body has been working closely with all stakeholders to ensure all follow AIBA guidelines in the formation of a national boxing federation," BI said.

"Keeping in line with AIBA statutes, Boxing India will conduct fresh elections on September 11th 2014. All information with regards to the election procedure, the ratified constitution of Boxing India and the AIBA guidelines have been shared with the various state associations and units," it added.
