Bengaluru stampede: BCCI forms committee to formulate guidelines for victory celebrations

"A committee to be constituted to formulate comprehensive guidelines aimed at preventing occurrences similar to the victory celebrations in Bengaluru. The committee will comprise: Devajit Saikia (Chairperson), Prabhtej Singh Bhatia and Rajeev Shukla," said BCCI in its statement.
The tragedy occurred last Wednesday when nearly 2.5 lakh fans thronged the stadium and its surrounding areas to catch a glimpse of their favourite stars, leading to a stampede that left 11 dead and 56 injured.
The committee formed by the BCCI will be producing the guidelines within 15 days, said the statement.
CM Siddaramaiah also expressed his deep sorrow over the incident. "A major tragedy occurred during the victory celebrations. It happened near the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The government has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the deceased. The government will provide free treatment to the injured. Eleven people died and 33 were injured in the stampede. This tragedy should not have happened. The government expresses deep sorrow over this incident."
