Jay Shah, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has announced a significant change in the Indian Premier League (IPL) by introducing a match fee of ₹7.5 lakh per game for cricketers starting from the 2025 edition.

This initiative aims to reward players for their consistent and exceptional performances throughout the season.

A cricketer who participates in all league matches will earn an additional ₹1.05 crore, beyond their contracted salary.

Each IPL franchise will allocate ₹12.60 crore specifically for match fees, marking a notable shift in player compensation, further enhancing the league's competitive landscape and financial benefits for players.

The IPL Governing Council recently convened in Bengaluru to discuss critical matters such as retention rules, auction venues, and the size of the retention purse.

According to reports, BCCI might allow each franchise to retain up to five players, with the potential use of one Right-to-Match (RTM) card.

This is expected to give franchises the ability to match the highest bid for one of their previous players during the auction.

Additionally, the salary cap for franchises is expected to rise to ₹120 crore, promoting more competitive bidding for top talents.
