A total of 74 matches are slated to be played solely in India, including the playoffs, which are slated to kick off from May 21. The grand finale is scheduled to take place on May 26 at the iconic Chepauk Stadium in Chennai.
The Qualifier 1 and Eliminator matches will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 21 and 22, respectively. Following this, Qualifier 2 and the final showdown will unfold in Chennai on May 24 and 26. It's worth noting that Chennai hosted the inaugural match of this season as well.
In the upcoming phase, Delhi Capitals will be treating their home fans to five thrilling matches at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, having chosen to play their initial two home matches in Visakhapatnam.
Punjab Kings, who commenced their season at the PCA New International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, will wrap up their home stretch in Dharamsala. The serene venue is set to witness two matches on May 5th and 9th, pitting Punjab Kings against Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, respectively.
The ongoing tournament, which commenced on March 22, witnessed reigning champions Chennai Super Kings clinching victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 6 wickets.
The BCCI had earlier released the schedule for the first 21 matches, to be played over 17 days.
"As in the past, the BCCI will work closely with government and security agencies, following all necessary protocols and advisories related to the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections in India. Once the dates for the 18th Lok Sabha elections are announced, the Board will review and address any issues pertaining to the schedule of the first two weeks. Subsequently, the BCCI will work in tandem with local authorities to finalize the schedule for the remainder of the season, taking into account the polling dates," stated the BCCI in a release.
Rajasthan Royals too have opted for a second venue in Guwahati and will play their final two home matches in Assam. They will first host Punjab Kings on May 15th and later play Kolkata Knight Riders on May 19th, which will also mark the conclusion of the league stage of the 17th season of IPL.
