BCCI President Anurag Thakur draws Supreme Court fire
NEW DELHI: Anurag Thakur, the new president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India ( BCCI), came under fire in the Supreme Court on two counts on Thursday. One was lack of eligibility going by the RM Lodha panel recommendation that no person facing criminal charges could contest.

The second was over implementation of the panel’s recommendations on cleaning up the board’s functioning. Amicus curiae Gopal Subramanium said Thakur had several cases pending against him as the marathon hearing on implementation of the Lodha panel report came to a close.

Thakur is the son of former Himachal chief minister PK Dhumal and faces two cases — one in which charges have been framed against him and another in which he has been chargesheeted. One of them relates to allegations of corruption in the construction of a cricket stadium in Dharamshala.
