"Applications for the position should be submitted by 6PM IST on May 27, 2024. The selection process will include a thorough review of applications, followed by personal interviews and assessments of shortlisted candidates," said the cricket body in a press release.
Key qualifications required for the post:
- Should have played minimum of 30 Test Matches or 50 ODI’s
- Head Coach of a full member Test Playing Nation, for a minimum period of 2 years
- Head Coach of an Associate member /IPL Team or Equivalent International League/First Class Teams/ National A teams, for a minimum period of 3 years
- Should have BCCI Level 3 Certification or equivalent
- Should be below 60 years of age
The development comes as Jay Shah had confirmed that the board will call for applications for the position of head coach on a long-term basis as Rahul Dravid's tenure will conclude in June this year.
After India's hope of lifting the ODI World Cup shattered last year, Dravid was offered a contract extension till the T20 World Cup.
With the marquee event kicking off in June in the USA and the West Indies, Shah confirmed that BCCI will call for applications before the beginning of the tournament and if Dravid wants to extend his stay he could re-apply for the position.
