May 17 (The Sports Xchange) - Tests on tissue removed from Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Jameson Taillon last week confirmed he is dealing with testicular cancer.

Pittsburgh trainer Todd Tomczyk said Wednesday that Taillon will be re-evaluated next week before addressing the next course of treatment.

The Pirates placed Gregory Polanco on the 10-day disabled list and recalled fellow outfielder Danny Ortiz from Triple-A Indianapolis.

The move is retroactive to Monday for Polanco, who is nursing a left hamstring strain.

Cleveland Indians outfielder Abraham Almonte is expected to miss three to five weeks with a high-grade sprain to his right biceps tendon, the team announced.

Almonte aggravated the injury and exited Monday's 8-7 victory over Tampa Bay before being placed on the 10-day disabled list the following day.
