India's Lightweight Men's Double Skulls pair Arvind Singh and Arjun Lal Jat, who won Bronze in 2018 edition of Asian Games, have advanced to the final of their event at Hangzhou, raising expectations of winning another medal at the 2023 continental showpiece.

They came first in the repechage 1 with a timing of 6.55.78 minutes. The pair of Arvind Singh and Arjun Lal Jat were ranked 11th at the Tokyo Olympics.

Men's double skulls pair Satnam Singh and Parminder Singh also advanced to the medal round after coming first in their repechage. They are also expected to give it a shot at the medal in the final.


India has sent a strong 33-member contingent to Hangzhou.

India's men's coxed eight team and men's coxless pair of Babulal Yadav and Lekh Ram have also got a place in the medal round as all the teams in these events got direct entry to the final.

The coxed eight team comprising Neeraj, Naresh Kalwaniya, Neetish Kumar, Charanjeet Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Bheem Singh, Punit Kumar, Ashish and Dhananjay Pande finished second in the preliminary race Wednesday.
