India wins gold in archery compound women's team event
The Indian archery compound women's team featuring Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Aditi Gopichand, and Parneet Kaur clinched a gold medal at the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou on Thursday.

At the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou, the Indian women's compound archery team, featuring Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Aditi Gopichand, and Parneet Kaur, secured a gold medal on Thursday.

The trio achieved this victory by outscoring the team from Chinese Taipei, consisting of Yi-Hsuan Chen, I-Jou Huang, and Lu-Yun Wang, with a score of 230-229.


During the initial set, Chinese Taipei put up a strong challenge and managed to secure a 54-56 victory. However, India then seized control of the match and went on to dominate, ultimately securing our second gold medal in archery.

Earlier, in the quarterfinals of the compound women's team event, Team India, captained by Jyothi Surekha, triumphed over Hong Kong with a score of 231-220, securing their ticket to the next round of the tournament.

Despite the resilient efforts of Hong Kong's Hung Ting Cheng, Yuk Sheung Wong, and Yin Yi Luk, the Indian archers executed their shots flawlessly, ensuring a decisive victory.

Earlier on Thursday in the semifinal match of the event, Jyothi, Aditi, and Parneet clinched a win against Indonesia's Ratih Zilizati Fadhly, Syahara Khoerunisa, and Sri Ranti by 233-219. India dominated the game from the very first minute and bagged 60 points in the first set.

On Wednesday, India's Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Pravin Ojas Deotale clinched a gold in the archery mixed team compound archery after winning the final match against South Korea's Chaewon So and Jaehoon Joo at the 19th Asian Games.

India currently stands in fourth place with a total of 82 medals, which includes 19 gold, 31 silver, and 32 bronze medals.
