Asian Games: India clinches gold in squash mixed doubles

The mixed doubles pair of Harinder Pal Sandhu and Dipika Pallikal won Gold in mixed doubles squash defeating the Malaysian pair by a score of 2-0 in the final at the Asian Games.

The Indians eked out a 11-10 11-10 win over Aifa Binti Azman and Mohammad Syafiq Bin Mohd Kamal in 35 minutes.

Initially appearing to be on a comfortable path to victory, the Indian team seemed to lose focus in the second game, allowing their opponents to gain easy points.


The Malaysian pair managed to secure seven consecutive points, turning the score from 3-9 to 10-9. However, Harinder and Dipika regained their form and eventually closed out the match.

In what is likely her final appearance at the continental championship, Dipika earned two medals, winning a bronze in the women's team event in addition to the gold in mixed doubles.

At the age of 32, Dipika now boasts a total of six medals, comprising one gold, one silver, and four bronze medals across four editions of the Asian Games.
