Earlier India restricted Bangladesh in the Asian Games semi-final match to just 96/9 off 20 overs but suffered a jolt in the chase early on. Yashasvi Jaiswal fell in the first over to Ripon Mondol. But after that Tilak Varma and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad not only steadied the innings but surpassed the Bangladesh total in just 9.2 overs. with a flurry of fours and sixes.
Among the India bowlers, R Sai Kishore and Washington Sundar were brilliant with the ball, picking up three and two wickets respectively.

With the ball, Tilak Varma also picked up one wicket. Such was the dominance of Indian bowlers that just three batters from Bangladesh could reach double figures.

Young batter earlier this year made both his ODI and T20 debut for India. The 20-year-old batting all-rounder, who bats left handed and bowls right arm offbreak, had earlier represented India in the U-19 squad. Since then he has made rapid strides in domestic cricket and IPL to find a place in Team India.
When Varma made his T20 debut for India in West Indies, what also caught everyone's attention were his tattoos. "Looks like Tilak Varma is inspired from tattoo king Surya Kumar Yadav," an user had commented then.
