Turner joins rare BBL club with unbeaten 99
Despite the explosive knock, Turner fell one run short of his first BBL hundred in his 243-match T20 career. He became only the fourth player in Big Bash League history to remain unbeaten on 99. Turner also joined Shaun Marsh as the second Perth Scorchers batter to be stranded on 99*, after Marsh scored an unbeaten 99 off 52 balls against the Melbourne Renegades in 2011.Before Turner and Marsh, only two other batters had recorded unbeaten 99s in the league. Josh Philippe achieved the feat with a 61-ball 99* for Sydney Sixers against Melbourne Stars in 2021, while Colin Munro scored an unbeaten 99 for Brisbane Heat against Melbourne Stars in 2023, also facing 61 deliveries.
Batting at number five, Turner’s latest innings was his 15th BBL fifty and took him past the 2,400-run mark in the tournament. He now has 2,412 runs from 133 BBL matches at an average of 28.37 and a strike rate of 147.34.
