Angkrish Raghuvanshi's misfortunes continue after his controversial run out against Lucknow Super Giants in IPL match on April 26 as he has now been fined.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been fined 20% of his match fee and given one demerit point for a Level 1 breach of the IPL Code of Conduct during Match No. 38 against Lucknow Super Giants.

Raghuvanshi was found to have breached Article 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which relates to “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a Match,” IPL said.

The incident took place in the fifth over when, after being given out for obstructing the field, Raghuvanshi hit the boundary cushion with his bat in frustration and then threw his helmet into the dugout in a similar manner.

Raghuvanshi had admitted to the offence and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction.

Raghuvanshi came in at a difficult moment to bat for Kolkata Knight Riders against LSG and was trying to steady KKR after an early collapse, but his effort ended suddenly when he was given out for obstructing the field, one of the rarest dismissals in cricket.

Raghuvanshi wanted to steal a quick single after hitting the ball to mid-on. However, midway through the run, he was sent back. Raghuvanshi had turned and ran in a different direction before making a desperate dive to not get run out. However, the ball thrown by the fielder hit him.

Lucknow players, including captain Rishav Pant immediately appealed and TV umpire gave him out.

The controversial decision sparked a debate with commentator opining that Raghuvanshi's intent should have been judged rather than gong by the rulebooks as it was not possible for him to turn back and run the same course of direction.
