Following the match, Kohli jokingly attempted to recreate Rahul’s "this is my ground" celebration from earlier this season. Rahul had originally performed the Kantara-inspired gesture at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru after leading Delhi to a win over RCB with an unbeaten 93 off 53 balls.
During the post-match scenes in Delhi, Kohli approached Rahul, who was chatting with Karnataka teammates Karun Nair and Devdutt Padikkal, and tried to mimic the celebration inspired by the movie Kantara. "You know what I thought, I'll finish the match and do this (the gesture) and then come and hug you," Kohli was heard saying to Rahul.
However, the wicket-keeper batsman pointed towards the pitch and asked Kohli to do it there. Both players shared a laugh, and Rahul was heard saying, "Accha hua out hogaya," indicating he was relieved that Kohli could not perform it on the field during the match.
Earlier this month, after his celebration at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Rahul had said, "This is a special place for me. That celebration was from one of my favourite movies, Kantara. So, yeah, just a tiny reminder that this ground, this turf, this home is where I have grown up, and that this is mine."
Chasing 163, RCB reached the target in 18.3 overs. Krunal Pandya anchored the innings with a 47-ball 73 not out, while Virat Kohli scored 51 runs. Tim David contributed with a quick 19* off 5 balls to finish the match. Axar Patel was the pick of the bowlers for Delhi, taking 2 wickets for 19 runs.
RCB’s win helped boost their position in the points table as they continue their push for playoff qualification.
