Abhishek Sharma’s dream run in international cricket is getting brighter, with the young India opener tightening his grip on the No.1 spot in the ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings, scaling a peak that underlines his meteoric rise in the format.

The latest rankings reshuffle reflects how the global T20 landscape is shifting rapidly, with new stars rising and established names being displaced. Pakistan’s Saim Ayub, for instance, climbed strongly enough to end Hardik Pandya’s reign as the top-ranked T20I all-rounder, signalling a changing pecking order across formats.

For Sharma, the surge has been fuelled by a string of commanding performances, including a stylish half-century in a key Asia Cup knockout clash that powered India’s title charge and cemented his place among the game’s elite.


At just 25, Sharma’s fearless stroke-play, high strike rate and consistency at the top of the order have turned him into one of the most feared power-hitters in world cricket — and, increasingly, the face of India’s next-gen white-ball dominance.

The update reflects the tournament’s early fireworks. Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza surged back to No.1 among all-rounders after starring in his side’s eight-wicket win over Oman, delivering a miserly spell before sealing the chase with the winning runs.

Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan rocketed four places to third in the batting charts after a blistering innings against the United States, while a clutch of players — from New Zealand’s Tim Seifert to India’s Ishan Kishan — also climbed following impactful outings.

On the bowling front, India’s Varun Chakravarthy continues to cling to the No.1 ranking, narrowly ahead of Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed, as a wave of risers including Arshdeep Singh and Mitchell Santner closed in behind.
