Trump says he is willing to work with Democrats unless they act ‘destructively’

US President Donald Trump has said he is willing to work with Democrats, provided they do not act 'destructively'. His remarks come after the 2026 US Midterm Elections, in which Republicans suffered significant losses, shifting the political landscape in Washington. Trump indicated openness to bipartisan cooperation while drawing a line against actions he considers harmful. The statement comes as Democrats prepare to take on a greater role in Congress and raises questions about the prospects for cooperation between the two parties on key legislative priorities. The remarks signal Trump's position on working with the Opposition in the aftermath of the midterm results.
