Prashant Kishor wins Bankipur: Did student protests hurt BJP in bypolls?

Three Assembly bypolls: Bankipur (Bihar), Datia (Madhya Pradesh) and Manjalpur (Gujarat), were closely watched as the first electoral contests following the nationwide student protests over the paper leak controversy and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor won his maiden election by defeating the BJP in Bankipur, Congress candidate Ghanshyam Singh defeated the BJP in Datia, while the BJP held on to Manjalpur in Gujarat.
