MIAMI: SpaceX on Friday successfully landed the first stage of its Falcon 9 rocket on an ocean platform, marking a historic first in the effort to make rockets recyclable, the California-based company said.

SpaceX mission control in Hawthorne, California erupted with cheers as a live broadcast showed the rocket standing upright on a barge, known as a drone ship, in the Atlantic Ocean.
