A new variant of the Coronavirus, known as XEC, is spreading rapidly across the world, according to reports.

The XEC strain is said to be a hybrid of the KS. 1.1 and KP.3.3 variants. It was initially detected in Germany in June but has since been found in 15 countries spanning three continents.

Quoting experts in the United States, the Mirror said that the Covid XEC will become the dominant variant.

"XEC is just getting started now around the world," Eric Topol, director of the Scripps Research Translational Institute in California, told the Mirror.

Covid XEC Symptoms

The symptoms of the XEC variant are similar to those of other Covid-19 variants and common illnesses like colds and flu. The National Health Service (NHS) lists the main symptoms as:

Since April, new Omicron variant subtypes have been observed spreading throughout the US.
