NASA has announced the plans to 3D-print mini Mars rovers. The model may not be able to fire lasers, send back amazing science and pictures.

WASHINGTON: What about having your own Curiosity Mars rover? That is possible now, and you will not have to cough up some $2.5 billion for that.

NASA has announced the plans to 3D-print mini Mars rovers, Popular Science reported.

The model may not be able to fire lasers, send back amazing science and pictures, but it will embellish your desk.

The announcement came on the occasion of fourth anniversary of Curiosity's launch.

NASA has been known for offering free 3D printable files every now and then.

The set for the Curiosity includes both a simple and a complex version to accommodate users and fans of all levels. Tabs have also been included with all models to improve bed adhesion.

Users can download the files from NASA's website. However, actually 3D printing and assembling one can involve a bit of trial and error.

The Curiosity was launched in 2011 on a long journey for Mars - only touching down after a 563,000,000 km journey.

The pictures sent back by Curiosity have in fact generated much enthusiasm and curiosity in the world.
