IIT Ropar has received a grant of Rs 500 lakh from the Department of Science Technology, Government of India, to set up a Technology Business Incubator in Punjab.

HYDERABAD: IIT Ropar has received a grant of Rs 500 lakh from the Department of Science Technology, Government of India, to set up a Technology Business Incubator in Punjab. The facility will be utilized to contribute towards the ‘ Startup India Programme’ of the central government.

“We hope that this new venture will be another stepping stone in the direction of technological advancements in our country and it will open up new horizons for research and innovation,” said Prof S K Das, Director of IIT Ropar.

The institute which has an umbrella centre called Centre for Innovation and Business Incubation (CIBI) has already incubated four startups since inception in 2013 and is also government funded.
