DRDO's G Satheesh Reddy conferred prestigious RIN fellowship

NEW DELHI: Senior DRDO scientist G Satheesh Reddy, who played a critical role in the Agni 5 programme, has been conferred the prestigious Fellowship of the Royal Institute of Navigation, a first for an Indian.

Reddy, Director, Research Centre Imarat of DRDO, has been recognised for his work in the field of inertial and satellite-based navigation and avionics technologies.

He is the first Indian to get the fellowship, DRDO sources here said.

Established in 1947, Royal Institute of Navigation (RIN) is one of the world's leading professional bodies dedicated to advancement of navigation around the world.

The Institute has elected nearly 450 highly distinguished navigation professionals as Fellows from all over the world and as on date Reddy becomes the first and the only one to be elected from India, they said.

Reddy is one of the leading navigation and avionics experts in the country with nearly three decades of experience.

He led the development of avionics technologies in critical areas of navigation, embedded computers, control, guidance, telemetry, ground systems among others.

He developed the Redundant Navigation System for long duration missions, navigating accurately the Agni 5 Indian ICBM class long range missile over a range of more than 5000 km.

He has led many strategic and tactical aerospace projects, the sources said.
