Schmersal Inaugurates Global Competence Center (SGCC) at AP4 Tech Park, Pune
The German safety technology group has opened its Global Competence Center and opened a new Product Experience Center at Amar Builders & Pristine Developers' commercial IT development in Wagholi, Pune.

The center functions as a hub for engineering, product development, and digital transformation within the global Schmersal network. From Pune, teams will work with the group's operations in more than 60 countries, deepening technical collaboration and supporting Schmersal's machine safety and automation programs worldwide, the company said.
Headquartered in Wuppertal, Germany, the Schmersal Group develops and manufactures safety technology, sensors, and control systems for industries including automotive, pharmaceuticals, food processing, packaging, and heavy machinery. According to the group, it employs over 1,800 people globally.
In India, Schmersal operates a manufacturing plant at Ranjangaon, with the new Pune office placed for direct access to the plant and to the city's business districts.
Commenting on the inauguration, Ramji Singh, Managing Director, Schmersal India Pvt. Ltd., said: “Our new office at AP4 Tech Park is a significant step in our India growth strategy. The park's infrastructure, access to talent, connectivity, and sustainable design align with our global standards. The location gives us seamless access to our manufacturing plant in Ranjangaon while keeping us connected to Pune's business hubs. This facility brings us closer to our customers, strengthens the role of our Global Competence Center within the Schmersal Group, and deepens our contribution to the growth of India's manufacturing ecosystem.”
A new product experience center
Alongside the office, Schmersal said it has opened a Product Experience Center at AP4. The center showcases the group's range of safety solutions and the machine safety compliance services offered by tec.nicum-Solutions & services, its consulting division.
The launch reflects Schmersal's commitment to the 'Make in India' initiative and to contributing to the growth of India's manufacturing ecosystem, with the new facility supporting safer, smarter, and more sustainable manufacturing in the country.
The new office also reinforces AP4 Tech Park's positioning as a destination for Global Capability Centers and technology-led enterprises. Developed by Amar Builders in partnership with Pristine Properties, AP4 Tech Park is a Grade A IT Park and Pune's first WiredScore Platinum Certified in Development and has been designed with scalable workspaces, IGBC Pre-Certified sustainable design, and employee-centric amenities, making it an attractive address for global businesses expanding in Pune.
Founded in 1945 in Wuppertal, Germany, the Schmersal Group is a global leader in machine safety solutions, with eight manufacturing facilities across four continents, operations in more than 60 countries, and over 2,000 employees worldwide.
The Schmersal Global Competence Center (SGCC), established as a wholly owned subsidiary in 2022, serves as the group's global engineering and IT hub in Pune. It provides expertise in custom application development, embedded engineering, IoT, SAP, Microsoft technologies, and IT infrastructure, supporting Schmersal's worldwide operations and long-term growth strategy by leveraging India's highly skilled talent ecosystem.
Schmersal's move adds an established Global Capability Center to AP4's occupier base, reinforcing the development's position as a destination for GCCs, global corporations, and IT companies establishing or expanding operations in Pune.
