Zardari writes to Nawaz; complains against three PML-N leaders
Pakistan People's Party chief Asif Ali Zardari has written to his ruling coalition partner Nawaz Sharif to complain about three PML-N leaders who are playing the "role of spoilers".
The letter was written in response to correspondence from PML-N chief Sharif seeking clarification from the PPP leadership on various issues confronting the coalition. Sharif had written that he needed to know the PPP's plans to decide the PML-N's future course of action.
Zardari expressed his desire to continue the alliance with the PML-N to take Pakistan out of its current situation, PPP sources said. Zardari also appreciated the "positive" role played by PML-N Khawaja Asif and Ishaq Dar during meetings with the PPP.
However, the PPP chief complained about PML-N "hawks" who were playing the "role of spoilers," the sources said.
Quoting Zardari's letter, the sources said that while Asif and Dar were involved in constructive talks, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Javed Hashmi and Ahsan Iqbal were always trying to create problems for the coalition through the media.
Khan and Iqbal, both former federal ministers, are regarded as being very close to Sharif.
Referring to the reinstatement of judges deposed by President Pervez Musharraf, the sources said Zardari had written in his letter that he was worried that restoring the judges through an executive order could instigate the former military strong man into invoking his constitutional powers to dismiss the Prime Minister and dissolve the parliament.
