Yumnam Khemchand invites Dalai Lama to International Peace Conference in Imphal
GUWAHATI: Manipur Assembly Speaker Yumnam Khemchand has invited Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama to International Peace Conference in Imphal.

Khemchand has met Dalai in to Dharmashala in Himachal Pradesh. The speaker has gone to Dharmashala to attend conference on ‘Tribals of India and social issues’ at Himachal Pradesh University.

Kemchand said that itinerary of the conference will finalised once spiritual leader confirms the availability. “Dalai has consented to visit the conference. The conference aims to bring peace in the North eastern states".

In April this year Dalai Lama was on 12 day visit to Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. His visit was opposed by China.

As a reaction to it miffed China renamed six places in Arunachal Pradesh, China’s has ‘standardised’ official names for six places in the state.

The official names of the six places by China using the Roman alphabet are Wo’gyainling, Mila Ri, Qoidengarbo Ri, Mainquka, Bumo La and Namkapub Ri.
