YSRCP wants Andhra Pradesh government to waive farm loans
HYDERABAD: As Andhra Pradesh is reeling under the effects of deficient rain, the YSR Congress Party today urged the Chandrababu Naidu-led government to act on its poll promise of waiving all agriculture loans for the benefit of farmers.

The Opposition party says that farmers in the state are in distress as they could not undertake sowing operations due to insufficient rains and also because the state government lacks clarity on its farm loan waiver promise.

"Farmers are facing unprecedented uncertainty with rainfall playing truant and bankers refusing to sanction fresh loans and no assurance coming from the Andhra Pradesh government though the sowing operations are due for the kharif season," YSRCP spokesperson Ambati Rambabu told reporters here.

Lack of rains and state government delaying the loan waiver issue on some pretext or the other has put the farming community in a quandary, he said adding that the Chandrababu Naidu government should immediately address the needs of the farmers by waiving all agriculture loans.

"TDP leaders have been speaking in different voices adding to the woes of the farmers, be it constituting a committee, fixing a ceiling or searching for other escape routes, but majority of the people in Seemandhra are dependent on agriculture and the government ignoring their interests will not be tolerated," Rambabu said.
