YSRCP slams Krishna River Water Disputes Tribunal verdict

PULICHINTALA (AP): YSR Congress Party ( YSRCP) Honorary President Y S Vijayamma held a public meeting here today in protest against the recent verdict of the Krishna River Water Disputes Tribunal, saying it is against the interest of Andhra Pradesh.

"The tribunal's verdict has come before the probable announcement, as the Centre does not want the litigation to be pending, before it goes ahead with the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. This gross injustice of bifurcation as well as the tribunal verdict cannot be accepted and we have to fight against these," a YSRCP release quoted her as saying.

"The tribunal verdict is against the interests of Andhra Pradesh. Upper riparian states have already exploited the water resource sensing disunity among the people of Andhra Pradesh. It is time to put up a united fight and safeguard the interests of the state for coming generations," she said.
