Alla Ramakrishna Reddy emerged victorious in the previous elections, defeating TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh. However, the party has been considering the possibility of fielding a candidate from the Backward classes in the upcoming elections. There has also been a strong opposition within the party against Ramakrishna Reddy for quite some time.
Surprisingly, Ramakrishna Reddy, known for his unwavering loyalty to Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, took the decision to resign from the assembly without consulting the party leadership.
Sources have revealed that Reddy was deeply hurt by the demands of the rebel group led by local party president Vemareddy. The group held a meeting in the town on Sunday and demanded the replacement of the legislator.
In response to this serious issue, Ramakrishna Reddy promptly submitted his resignation letter to the speaker. However, the approval of the resignation letter is still pending from the speaker's office.
