RAJKOT: Terming the Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's two-day visit to Gujarat as helpful for strengthening the party in the state, Leader of Opposition in the Gujarat Assembly Shankarsinh Vaghela today said the young generation wanted Rahul to become the Prime Minister.

"Rahul's two-day visit has recharged the party in Gujarat and it is the demand of the young generation that Rahul should become Prime Minister," Vaghela said after a party meeting here.

"Rahul is a youth icon and Gujarat Congress would extend its full support to him to become the Prime Minister."

The Congress vice president met over 2,000 party workers and leaders from 13 districts of Saurashtra and North Gujarat at the meeting here today.

Ahmed Patel, political adviser to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, said, "Outcome of Rahul's visit is positive and Congress would benefit in Gujarat in the next year's general election.

Senior Congress leaders Shaktisinh Gohil and Siddharth Patel too termed the visit as "a moral booster" for Congress.

"He paid attention to party worker's suggestions and had a successful interaction," they said.
