'Youth should throw out all corrupt politicians'

The youth of the country should come together and "throw out all the old, corrupt politicians" and bring a younger leadership, actor John Abraham said on Tuesday.

MUMBAI: The youth of the country should come together and "throw out all the old, corrupt politicians" and bring a younger leadership, actor John Abraham said on Tuesday.
"We all know that most of our politicians are old and corrupt, although not all of them. We are a country with a huge youth population and I feel all the young people should get together and throw all these old politicians out," John told reporters here at a press conference.
John, who was promoting the MTV youth Icon awards, said, "When I was growing up, my icon was my father because he was so honest and non corrupt in his ways. Nowadays, however, we can see that most of the politicians in this country are aged and corrupt."
This year the list of nominees for MTV youth Icon includes Abhishek Bachchan who is up against several out of the box contenders like the social networking site "Orkut", the multimedia cellphone, "Rang De Basanti" and finally, "you" all of whom have been nominated as youth icons.
Earlier winners of this award include Rahul Dravid, Anil Ambani, Shah Rukh Khan and cricketer M S Dhoni.
"This year our research showed us that more than persons, it was things such as Orkut and cellphones which impacted the life of a young person in this country. Also, we ourselves are changing and affecting this world so much, that one of the nominees is also "you", Ashish Patil, General Manager MTV India said.
