KOCHI: The Kerala Pradesh Youth Congress has demanded a CBI probe into the controversial 'HMT land deal' and said it will not allow any construction work at the site for the Rs 4000 crore cybercity project.

Speaking to the media, T Siddique, President, Kerala Pradesh Youth Congress, demanded resignation of Kerala Minister for Industries Elamaram Kareem and Revenue Minister K P Rajendran owning moral responsibility on the issue.

Youth congress will organise a march to Kanayannur taluk on January 29 demanding resignation of both the ministers and for a CBI inquiry, he said.

The project has run into rough weather with Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan staying away from the foundation stone laying function on Jan 19, stating that his office was kept in the dark about the land transfer.

The allegation is that public sector HMT had sold 70 acres of the land, which the state had acquired for it a few years back at a much lower price than the market rate, to the Mumbai-based HDIL for implementing the project.
