Thakur’s mother has been ailing for long and so the CJI was not available in the court’s last working fortnight this year. The court will break for its winter recess on December 17 and will open on January 2. Thakur demits office on January 3 when he hands over the baton to Justice JS Khehar.
A dalit yatra for Congress
Congress is a little nervous about its 50-day Dalit yatra ‘Shiksha-Suraksha-Swabhiman’, which was flagged off on Sunday in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh. It is Congress’ first such Dalit outreach event in the state, and the first one without political strategist Prashant Kishor at the helm of affairs. A control room has been created to keep a hawk’s eye on the yatra and its success.
