BJP's chief ministerial face BS Yeddyurappa has confidently announced a swearing-in date of May 17 for his "government", provoking CM Siddaramaiah into calling him "mentally disturbed".

After casting his vote on Saturday morning, Yeddyurappa told reporters he was sure that BJP will win 145-150 of the 222 constituencies in Karnataka which went to the polls.

He then went a step further and said he and the members of his cabinet will take oath on May 17, two days after votes are counted.

"I will go to Delhi on 15th evening to meet Amit shah bhai and Prime Minister Narendra Modiji and tell them to come for my swearing ceremony, most possibly on 17th afternoon," he told reporters.

If that announcement was meant to be a "strategy", his rival number number CM Siddaramaiah was not at all impressed.

"Yeddyurappa is mentally disturbed. Congress will get more than 120 seats. I am very confident," he told ANI after voting in Varuna constituency where his son is contesting.

The punches and counter punches rivalry between the two Karnataka stalwarts were some of the highlights of this poll in which many opinion surveys have predicted a fractured mandate.
