Yediyurappa tweeted that all MLAs should focus on their constituencies during Covid-19 than running any such campaign.
The BJP central leadership has rejected any idea to change the chief minister of Karnataka for now, despite attempts by some state leaders. BS Yediyurappa had on Sunday said that he was willing to quit as CM if the party leadership directs him.

Yediyurappa was also planning to visit Delhi to meet the central leaders. However, he has been asked to stay put in the state at the time of pandemic and continue with his work.

The state BJP has constituted a 10 member coordination committee to address grievances of MLAs. The committee includes state president Nalin Kumar Kateel, four ministers and four party general secretaries, apart from the CM.

BJP is focusing on UP and Uttarakhand now and doesn’t want to open a front in Karnataka at the moment. This will see a lull in the efforts of some state leaders and MLAs who were in Delhi a month back for change in leadership. After Yediyurappa’s statement about resigning on Sunday, his political secretary MP Renukacharya, MLA, and his political secretary said they would begin a signature campaign in his favour. However, party leaders later said that it was an unnecessary exercise. Yediyurappa, too tweeted that all MLAs should focus on their constituencies during Covid-19 than running any such campaign.

However, the camp opposed to him is hopeful that going forward things may change. “We have conveyed our issue to the high command, and we are hopeful that a decision shall be taken,” said one of the MLAs on condition of anonymity. Senior party leaders like minister Jagadish Shettar have suppored Yediyurappa, saying that raising such issues like leadership change would draw unnecessary attention towards the government’s stability and affect its administration.
