Yechury, Bardhan to be on nuke deal panel

CPM politburo member Sitaram Yechury announced on Sunday that the Left leaders who are members of the Congress-UPA co-ordination committee would represent the Left parties in the committee.

KOLKATA: CPM politburo member Sitaram Yechury announced on Sunday that the Left leaders who are members of the Congress-UPA co-ordination committee would represent the Left parties in the committee that the government had proposed to set up to sort out the differences between the Congress and the Left over the Indo-US nuclear deal, reports Our Political Bureau.

“The CPM, the CPI, the RSP and the Forward Bloc collectively have four representatives in the Left-UPA co-ordination committee. We have decided to depute the same representatives to the proposed committee,” Mr Yechury told reporters, on the sidelines of an event organised to honour the former vice-president of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Madam Nguyen Thi Binh. The Left leaders in the UPA-Left co-ordination committee are Mr Yechury himself, AB Bardhan of the CPI, Debabrata Biswas of the Forward Bloc and Abani Roy of the RSP.
