Yasin Bhatkal used codes to communicate with IM men: NIA

NEW DELHI: "Tech" for Taliban, "Agency" and "Voda" for ISI, "Shaam" for Delhi, "Mulla/Pandit" for Sultan of Bhatkal in Pakistan and "reservation" for AK47 rifle--these were among several codes used by Indian Mujahideen co-founder Yasin Bhatkal to communicate with other IM operatives.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) told a court here that Bhatkal used the "secret coded language" to communicate with other IM operatives so that they could understand each other easily in which he was named as "Tb", "JJ" and "Mustafa".

NIA has said in its charge sheet that from the Internet chat accounts of Bhatkal and other accused persons, it emerged that they were creating chat accounts on fake names using proxy servers to conceal their identities and locations.

"The accused persons used coded language in the chat and to have utmost secrecy, separate secret chat addresses were exchanged with each other either through encrypted files or by statements in secret coded language, understandable only mutually by the operatives," the charge sheet said.

Some of those who used to communicate through codes include, arrested accused Yasin Bhatkal and Asadullah Akhtar, absconding accused Mohd Riyaz Bhatkal and Mirza Shadaab Beg, it said.

NIA said that in the codes, "Agency" and "Voda" were used for ISI, "Taagut" for "Agency Waley" (ISI), Dub for "Dubai", "Bebo" and "Bada" for Iqbal Bhatkal, "Chta" for Riyaz Bhatkal, "Waagu", "Qaqa" and "Micro" for Al Qaeda, "Shaam" for Delhi, "g/jejuu" for Gujarat, "Mulla/Pandit" for Sultan of Bhatkal residing in Pakistan, "tickkttt" and "Chaloo ticket" for pistol and "reservation" for AK47 rifle.

The codes also include "Tech" for Taliban, "deposit" for fidayeens (suicide attackers), "kalungii" for explosives, "elaichii" for detonator and "n" for Nimbuzz chat.
