Yashwant Sinha calls for inquiry into stock market fall
Former Union Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha has demanded a probe into an erratic movement of share market, causing unprecedented losses to investors.
The government should also enquire into the withdrawal of Rs 6,000 crore on a single day during the recent fluctuation in the market, Sinha told reporters here.
The stock market benchmark Sensex lost over 4,097.51 points in seven sessions till the close of trading yesterday.
Saying that speculators had been manipulating the share market leading to fluctuations, he claimed that the government did nothing to ensure orderly functioning of the market.
Sinha said he also had a reason to believe in the recent statement of the Adviser of the National Security Council that terrorist outfits had invested a huge amount in the share market.
