XLRI, Jamshedpur student commits suicide
Chandra Mohan, a second-year student of Xavier Labour Relation Institute, belonged to Chennai and was among the top ten students on merit list.
Chandra Mohan, a resident of Chennai, had attended his classes in the morning yesterday but he was not found since afternoon.
When Mohan, who was among the top ten students on merit list and friendly with co-students, did not turn up for dinner, his friends went to his room and found it locked from inside, police said.
After repeated knocks on the door went unanswered, the friends broke open the door and found him hanging. He was rushed to the Tata Main Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The body has been sent for post-mortem, sources said and added that the exact cause behind the incident could not be ascertained as yet.
Meanwhile, a pall of gloom descended on the XLRI campus as it was the first such incident in the history of the institute.
The XLRI authorities has decided to call off their scheduled two-day 'Homecoming-2006', a programme for the alumni.
A condolence meeting was held this morning in the campus.
