MUMBAI: Describing the terror attacks in Mumbai, which claimed 80 lives, as the `worst-ever' in the city, Maharashtra Governor S C Jamir on Thursday said that the strikes targeted innocent civilians and gallant police officers.

"My heart goes out to innocent people and the brave police officers who became martyrs while discharging their duty," Jamir said.

Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief Hemant Karkare was among the policemen killed in encounters with the terrorists.

"I express strong resolve of the Maharashtra Government that terrorists will be brought to justice," he asserted.

Over 270 people were injured in the explosions and firings since last night at several places in the metropolis. Five-star hotels and Mumbai CST railway stations were among the targets.
