World bank to fund bio-carbon project in Himachal

The World Bank (WB) has agreed to fund a bio-carbon project, the first of its kind in the country, in Himachal Pradesh.

SHIMLA: The World Bank (WB) has agreed to fund a bio-carbon project, the first of its kind in the country, in Himachal Pradesh.

World Bank authorities have agreed in principle to finance the bio-carbon project, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said.

A design document on the project is being prepared by experts to be submitted to WB for funding, he said.

The state government will sign an agreement with the WB by the end of this year in this regard, he added.

The assurance to fund the project came when a WB team called on the Chief Minister yesterday.

He thanked the WB authorities for their liberal and supportive attitude towards the developmental needs of the hill state which required huge funding.
